- Protein is a part of every cell in the body - from muscles and organs to hair and nails.
- The body uses protein to build and repair muscles, and also to make enzymes, hormones, and other body chemicals.
- It's important for kids to get plenty of protein to support optimal growth and development.
- Recommended protein intakes vary by age and range from 34 grams for 9-13 year olds to 46-52 grams for 14-18 year olds. Active kids may also have higher protein needs.
