Get MOOvin' in Spring!

As the snow begins to melt and the trees start to turn green, we know spring is on the horizon – and we’re pretty excited about it! With budding flowers and beautiful blue skies, what’s not to love?
This beautiful weather makes it the perfect time to reevaluate your family fitness goals and nutrition plan. Small steps toward a healthier lifestyle can make a big impact in the long run. With just 60 minutes a day of physical activity and serving only the best snacks for kids and parents alike, you’ll be on your way to happy, healthier springtime.
Physical activity doesn’t have to be stressful – in fact, it shouldn’t be! Try breaking up the 60 minutes into two or three shorter playtimes during the day. Here are a few activity ideas for keeping the whole family moving together.
Water Hose Limbo
Perfect for those especially warm spring days, Water Hose Limbo involves turning your front or backyard into fun hub for cooling down. While one person holds the hose to create a steady stream of water, everyone else limbos under the stream, using the water as a limbo stick. Try to stay as dry as possible, but don’t be surprised if you get a little wet. Slip into your swim attire – then let the fun begin!
Family Picnic in the Park
Spend a little family time away from home with a lunchtime picnic. Walk or hike to a grassy, shady area at your favorite park. Bring a cooler filled with only the best snacks for kids – like fruits and veggies paired with a nutritious drink like TruMoo Lowfat Chocolate Milk. Once everyone has filled up, get a few minutes of activity in with a friendly game of freeze tag or flag football.
Chalk It Up!
With more sunny days and less rain, it’s the perfect time for a little outdoorsy arts and exercise. Invest in a chalk kit that can be pulled out whenever the little ones are feeling inspired. Then let them create their masterpieces all along the sidewalk and driveway. For even more exercise, help them draw a hopscotch board – and get the whole family involved in the game!
This spring, make it a goal to think of more exercise ideas for your kids, and nutrition-packed snacks to fuel them during the day!
And remember, with the weather beginning to warm up, it’s important to always apply sunscreen before heading outdoors and to drink plenty of water!
